Artificial Intelligence (AI) is almost certainly the most important technological development of our times. AI has evolved from image recognition and gradually improved machine translation to Generative AI (GAI) that completes writing or other tasks based on natural-language instructions. The Holy Grail everyone is seeking, however, is Artificial General Intelligence (AGI).
In light of what’s at stake, policy makers and regulators are right to get involved sooner rather than later. A reasonable debate must be had.
ai fray‘s mission is to figure out what really matters and to explain it to a broader audience: not to the average citizen, but to the ones who need and/or really want to know.
Shortly before the end of 2023, ai fray launched simultaneously with its two sibling sites, games fray (on games industry issues and related regulatory matters) and ip fray (on intellectual property licensing, litigation and legislation). All three projects share the goal of taking the coverage of complex and contentious issues to the next level, and there are plans to produce audiovisual media as well.
Fray Media has different sources of financing for its media productions. For instance, the company is active as a litigation finance broker (as announced in April 2024) and takes sponsorships. Microsoft offers support for ai fray’s tracking of developments in the AI ecosystem. Fray Media will explore more revenue models over time, as do other publishing companies. At this stage and potentially for the long haul, all of Fray Media’s content is made available to the general public without requiring subscriptions.
